James and Sarah Regan

Message received from The Regan Clan

I have the death certificates of my great great granddad and great great grandmother who came to Southport in Lancs, UK, in the nineteenth century. They lived in a part of the town known as ‘Little Ireland’ and were called James and Sarah Regan. He died in 1878 she is 1898. He was 69 when he died she was 84.

We don’t know when they came to the UK but presume it was at the time of the potato famine.

We are told that they came from ‘County Mayo’ yet that’s all we know. Any information on the Regans of Mayo, Regans that moved to Southport from that region etc would be very fascinating.

She was formerly known as ‘Sarah Kerrigan’ - both born about 1811.

We believe they were Catholic.
